The Newest Blue Jacket

Scott Howson, Ryan Salmons, Manny Malhotra and Jason Chimera

A formal announcement will be posted later, but The Columbus Blue Jackets signed Ryan Salmons today. Terms of the deal were not disclosed per The Blue Jackets policy. Several special considerations were negotiated into the contract, but the most important aspect of the contract was the negotiation with Mark Methot. Ryan has acquired the rights to wear the number 3.

Click here to view more photos of the press conference. A huge thank you goes out to Scott Howson, Wendy Bradshaw and the Blue Jackets Foundation for making this happen.

Congrats. I think the Blue Jackets just acquired that extra push they need for the playoffs. Officially the new greatest Blue Jacket for sure. So when's your jersey go on sale? Gotta get an autograph for sure!

Take care. Your in the thoughts and prayers of my self and many other Marines here that I've shared your story with.

Congradulations Ryan!

I guess this means I will be switching from a Hurricanes fan to a Blue Jackets fan. You definitely have the best number ever. Now 3 will be the NHL's new number for "THE GREAT ONE".

One thing is for sure, if the Blue Jackets have your courage and fight, they will win the Stanley Cup easily.

Dear Ryan,

As the mom of a former Hillard hockey player (John Hamilton) I knew it was only a matter of time before one of Hilliard' own made it to the NHL !
Way to Go!!
It was wonderful seeing you at Hillard's State games a few weeks back, John and I enjoyed seeing you and talking to you !
You did Hilliard proud when you played, and now the Blue Jackets !
You're in our prayers daily!
"Carry the Flag" with pride, you deserve it!!
The Hamilton family,
John IV, Bonnie and John

That is awesome Ryan!!! Evan loved your photos (He likes Stinger - go figure.) Have fun at the game tonight!! Cheer them on for all of the J-5'ers - just wear your pants. (Evan likes to watch the games without pants is very werid -- but since he is 3, he can get away with it....right?!! ;)
At least that is what we tell ourselves...
Seriously though- that is such a great thing to be a member of such a really special team. Thinking of you and your family.

I am so thrilled. You deserve to be a blue jacket!!! I love seeing you happy and blessed. Sophia Hope thanks you Ryan for giving her a voice during her suffering. She couldn't tell me what she was feeling and you did. Without you we would never know how to make her feel better. You are an angel. I love you and your family so very much. You are an amazing, beautiful person Ryan. Thank you for everything you have done for Sophia Hope and I. You did it when you were suffering and that is amazing to us. Never forget how very much you are loved! (grandma and grandpa and dad too) :) Love you!

I was glad to see Ryan at the game on Sunday. I've been following his story through friends in Hilliard (my son is at Davidson now) and trying to figure out where I know you from Brad. It's many years ago when you worked for UCB..I'm at Time Warner Cable and you were our rep. Anyway...continued prayers for Ryan.
